Whether we are aware of it or not, the government is exploiting the earth and subsequently destroying the environment. Sometimes, it is tempting to think that the aggressive acquisition of natural resources is a good thing because it boosts the economy and the free markets in our country. However, we need to be cogent of the truth that working the earth too hard to obtain natural resources can have detrimental effects on the environment. This results in a less plentiful earth and a more hostile environment for those who come after us.
While getting oil from the earth is not bad, we need to be careful of how we do it. It must be done in a way that does not harm the ecosystems of the wildlife that live in that area. Additionally, we need to make sure that there are no leaks or spills. The government is completely oblivious to these precautions. Every day, more pipelines are being laid down recklessly by the government, resulting in the destruction of many natural habitats and the compounding of greenhouse gases which cause global warming.
Also, the government is not being held accountable for the amount of trees that are being chopped down. Oftentimes, they are being paid off by big corporations looking to overexploit the earth. This is a heinous crime. Our government is sacrificing the goodness of the earth just to make a buck. As a result, they are destroying the environment in the process. We need to find a way to hold the government accountable for these kinds of actions so that we can preserve nature and our world for the future.
